Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education has invited applications for the positions of Principal and Vice Principal ahead of the 2026/2027 academic year. Eligible Associate Professors, Professors and qualified Senior Lecturers are encouraged to apply before the July 15, 2026 deadline.

The vacancies for Principal and Vice Principal come at a time when Colleges of Education in Ghana continue to expand their mandate in teacher education, research, innovation and community engagement under their affiliation with public universities.
As one of Ghana’s respected teacher education institutions affiliated with the University of Cape Coast, Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education is seeking experienced academic leaders capable of guiding the institution through its next phase of growth.
The appointments are expected to attract highly qualified academics with proven leadership experience, strong research credentials and a commitment to improving teacher education in Ghana.

Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education Opens Applications for Principal Position
The College announced that the Principal serves as the chief academic, administrative and disciplinary officer responsible for providing strategic leadership across all operational areas of the institution.
According to the vacancy announcement, the successful applicant will oversee academic administration, financial management, institutional planning, staff development, quality assurance and policy implementation while ensuring that the College maintains high academic standards.
The Principal will also provide leadership in promoting research, attracting grants and external funding, strengthening partnerships and enhancing the institution’s national and international reputation.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and possess an academic rank not below Associate Professor. They should have at least ten years of teaching or research experience, including a minimum of five years in senior management within a recognised tertiary institution.
The College further requires applicants to demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, integrity, excellent interpersonal skills and a distinguished record of scholarly publications and academic achievement.
The appointment will initially be for four years and may be renewed once based on satisfactory performance, provided the appointee has not attained the compulsory retirement age of sixty years.

Vice Principal Position to Strengthen Academic Administration
The Vice Principal will support the Principal in the overall administration and management of the College while supervising Academic Heads of Department and coordinating academic programmes.
The successful candidate will act on behalf of the Principal whenever necessary and assist in implementing institutional policies that promote quality teaching, research and professional development.
Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant discipline together with an academic rank of Associate Professor. However, suitably qualified Senior Lecturers with strong leadership credentials may also be considered.
Eligible candidates must have accumulated at least eight years of progressive teaching or research experience, including four years in leadership or management positions within higher education.
The College has specified different tenure periods depending on academic rank. Professorial appointees will serve an initial three-year term while Senior Lecturer appointees will serve two years. Both appointments are renewable once based on satisfactory performance.
Applicants must also satisfy the prescribed age requirements, which stipulate a maximum age of fifty-six years for Professorial applicants and fifty-seven years for Senior Lecturer applicants at the time of application.
