Ghana and Korea have signed a US$28 million STEM education agreement to expand digital learning, smart schools, and teacher capacity development across 713 schools.

 

Accra, Ghana | 7th July 2026 — The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Republic of Korea through the to strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana.

The agreement will facilitate the implementation of the US$28 million STEM for All (D-STEM) Programme, a six-year initiative scheduled to run from 2026 to 2032.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Education Conference Room in Accra and forms part of Ghana’s broader efforts to build a future-ready education system through technology-driven learning and improved STEM capacity.

Korea-Backed STEM for All Programme to Reach 713 Schools Nationwide

The STEM for All (D-STEM) Programme is expected to expand STEM education opportunities across four regions, twelve districts, 86 education circuits, and 713 schools throughout Ghana.

The initiative will also support approximately 1,426 teachers through specialised capacity-building programmes designed to improve STEM teaching and digital skills.

The Ashanti and Northern Regions are expected to join the programme as part of efforts to widen access to quality STEM education beyond existing intervention areas.
