World Vision Ghana and partners have launched the 7th School Sanitation Solutions Challenge 2026 for P6 to JHS 2 students to promote sanitation behaviour change

The 7th School Sanitation Solutions (TRIPLE-S) Challenge 2026 has been launched to engage Ghanaian pupils and students in developing practical solutions to the country’s sanitation challenges.

The national essay competition is inviting students from Primary 6 to Junior High School 2 (JHS 2) to share innovative ideas on how citizens can improve sanitation through sustainable behavioural change.

The initiative is being organised by World Vision GhanaKings Hall Media Limited , the Ghana Education Service School Health Education Programme (SHEP), the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, GAMA SWP, and the Zoomlion Foundation.

 Students Invited to Write as Child Sanitation Diplomats

The competition requires participants to write an essay under the theme of becoming a “Child Sanitation Diplomat.”

Students are expected to respond to the topic:

“Ghana’s sanitation situation is generally poor. Meanwhile, sustained behaviour change by citizens has been identified as the ingredient required to address the country’s poor sanitation situation. What practical recommendations will you make to achieve behaviour change towards improved sanitation in Ghana?”

The organisers believe engaging young people in sanitation discussions can help build a generation that understands the importance of environmental cleanliness and responsible waste management.

Entry Requirements for the 2026 Sanitation Essay Competition

According to the organisers, participating students must submit handwritten essays in English.

Entries must not exceed 1,500 words and should be written on a foolscap sheet.

Students are required to provide:

• Full name
• School name
• Town
• District
• Region
• Student contact details
• Parent or guardian contact details

Each submission must also receive endorsement from a parent or guardian before it is submitted.

Competition Structure and Selection Process

The 2026 competition will be organised in three major stages.

Round One: The Common Contest

The first stage will identify the best essays from across four national zones.

Five students from each zone will be selected, producing 20 finalists.

Round Two: The Masters Encounter

The shortlisted students will defend their essays before a panel of experts during a public forum.

Grand Finale: Battle of Champions

The four zonal champions will compete at the national finals scheduled for:

The event will take place at the National Theatre, Accra, as part of the 3rd Children Sanitation Festival.

The finale will be moderated by Quiz Master Dan Afari-Yeboah and broadcast through radio, television, and Facebook platforms.

Winners to Receive Educational and Sanitation Support Prizes

The overall winner of the competition will be honoured as the Child Sanitation Diplomat.

The winner will receive:

• Laptop

Runners-up will receive plaques, tablets, cash prizes, and educational materials.
